SOPHIA ANDERSON

Sophia Tomina Anderson, 94, of Piedmont, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.

She was born Nov. 20, 1901, near Luverne, Minn., daughter of Andrew S. and Bertha Bervin Anderson.

She received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1937. She taught in rural schools 10 years and in a junior high school four years in Minnesota. For 36 years she taught at Bethany Lutheran High School and College in Mankato, Minn. She also served as college business manager from 1949-70.

After retiring she moved to Piedmont, where she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a sister, Emma Rusch of Piedmont; two brothers, Arthur Anderson of Beaver Creek, Minn., and Paul Anderson of Eau Claire, Wis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Church in Piedmont, with the Rev. J. Herbert Larson officiating. Burial will be in Scriptural Lutheran Church Cemetery at Egypt Mills.
