Sopha A. Schafer, 82, of Jackson died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at her home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1922, at Glennon, Mo., daughter of George and Emma Laurentius Beel. She and Zeno W. Schafer were married Feb. 9, 1942, in Cape Girardeau.
Schafer was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church many years.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Don Schafer of Atlanta, Ga., Richard Schafer of Marble Hill, Mo., Frank Schafer of Perryville, Mo.; four daughters, Mary Whiteside of Perryville, Rosie Roshek of Wright City, Mo., Judy Proffer of Hamilton, Mo., and Susan Burehl of Pocahontas.
Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Beel of St. Peters, Mo., Edward Beel of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Carrie Macke of St. Louis, Lavern Winebarger of Womack, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
