Sloan A. Watkins, 86, 1624 New Madrid, died Tuesday, May 23, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 28, 1909, near Oriole, son of Elmer and Emma Bodenschatz Watkins. He and Ida Floyd were married May 19, 1928, at Jackson.
Watkins retired in 1976 after 16 years as owner/operator of Maytag Laundromat. He also had worked at International Shoe Co. 18 years, and was a movie projectionist 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dorothy Blackman of Jackson; four brothers, Robert Watkins of Yucaipa, Calif., William Watkins of Cape Girardeau, Earl Watkins of Little Rock, Ark., Gene Watkins of St. Louis; a sister, Ruth Tinsley of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. S.S. Borum officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
