Chatawa, MISS. -- SISTER MICHAELETTE SEYER, 91, OF CHATAWA, DIED SATURDAY, JULY 31, 2004, AT ST. MARY OF THE PINES IN CHATAWA.
SHE WAS BORN ALMA MARY MARCH 21, 1913, IN ADVANCE, MO., DAUGHTER OF PHILIP AND ALVINA SEYER.
SEYER ENTERED THE CONVENT IN ST. LOUIS IN 1934, AND PROFESSED HER VOWS AS A SCHOOL SISTER OF NOTRE DAME IN 1937.
SHE WAS A COOK AND DIETITIAN MOST OF HER LIFE. SHE SERVED IN MISSOURI AND ILLINOIS UNTIL 1950 WHEN SHE WENT TO MARRERO, LA., WHERE SHE SERVED 25 YEARS IN A BOYS' HOME AT MADONNA MANOR. SEYER WAS THEN DIETITIAN AT THE RETIREMENT HOME IN CHATAWA FROM 1977 UNTIL RETIRING IN 1990.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE FOUR BROTHERS, RAYMOND SEYER OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, PAUL SEYER OF RICHFIELD, MINN., LAWRENCE AND ELMER SEYER OF ORAN, MO.; AND A SISTER, MARY ANN WOLTERING OF BREESE, ILL.
A WAKE WILL BE HELD AT 9 A.M. WEDNESDAY AT ST. MARY OF THE PINES.
FUNERAL MASS WILL BE AT 11 A.M. WEDNESDAY AT ST. MARY OF THE PINES, WITH THE REV. ROBERT DORE OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN CHATAWA CEMETERY.
A LOCAL MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.
