UNIONTOWN -- Sister Leocadia Meyer, 89, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Anna House-The Sarah Community nursing center in Bridgeton.

She was born at Uniontown, and reared at Apple Creek.

Meyer entered the congregation of School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1935, and professed her final vows in 1944.

She spent most of her religious life in the area of food service at churches and retirement centers in St. Louis and Charles, Mo.; Belleville, Ill.; and in California, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Honduras.

Meyer retired to Villa Gesu retirement center in north St. Louis County in 1995, and moved to the Anna House in January 1999.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Hilda Meyer of Perryville and Rowena Meyer of Uniontown.

Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the School Sisters of Notre Dame Motherhouse Chapel in Lemay. A prayer service will be held at 3.

Funeral Mass will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Motherhouse Cemetery.
