Sis Hinkle

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Berniece "Sis" Hinkle, 90, of Advance died Monday, May 4, 2009, at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Mo.

She was born June 17, 1918, at Advance, daughter of William and Ida Mae Overby Rhodes. Sis and Charlie Hinkle were married Jan. 18, 1946, at Bloomfield, Mo. He died June 19, 2001.

Sis and her husband were owners and operators of Advance Cut Rate more than 40 years. She had been a very active member and treasurer of Advance United Methodist Church. She was a 1936 graduate of Advance High School.

Survivors include a son, Lynn Hinkle of St. Louis; a daughter, Karen Schaefer of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle) Schaefer of Desloge, Mo., Madelyn Hinkle of Columbia, Mo., and Evan Hinkle of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sarah Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
