AURORA, Mo. -- Funeral was held Friday for Simon P. Huey Jr., 75, of Aurora at the Aurora First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Golding officiating. Burial was at Maple Park Cemetery.
Huey died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at St. John's Regional Health Care Center in Springfield, Mo.
He was born April 28, 1926, in Blodgett, Mo., son of Simon P. Huey Sr. and Elsie Jennings Huey. He and Helen Stroup were married Aug. 10, 1946, in Chaffee, Mo.
He worked as a foreman for shoe companies in Chaffee and Aurora. He was a Metropolitan Life Insurance agent in Aurora for several years. He also worked as a security guard at Missouri Rehab in Mount Vernon, Mo.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Aurora First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bruce Huey of Lenexa, Kan., and Larry Huey of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Peggy Curts of Bolivar, Mo.; four brothers, Emit Huey of Memphis, Tenn., Red Huey of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Huey of Fulton, Mo., and Ray Huey of St. Louis; a sister, Fay Sanders of Delta, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
