EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. -- Sidney Lee Myers, 69, of East Cape Girardeau died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, children and family.
He was born in Anna, Illinois, on July 17, 1947, the son of Sidney Amos and Floetta Mae (Farmer) Myers.
He grew up in Wolf Lake, Illinois, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965. He then attended a vocational-technical school in Mattoon, Illinois.
Sidney was general manager at the Florsheim Shoe Co. factory in Cape Girardeau until his retirement. He later worked part time at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau. His favorite pastimes were fishing with friends; playing the lead guitar and performing as backup vocalist with local country bands; and Tuesday night picking guitars with friends at Dave Newell's home.
Sidney married Mickie Dallas on April 26, 1968, in Alto Pass, Illinois. Into this union were born a son, Scott, and a daughter, Amber.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mickie Dallas Myers of East Cape Girardeau; a son, Scott C. (JoEllen) Myers of Jonesboro, Illinois; a daughter, Amber L. Myers (Frank) Martin of East Cape Girardeau; six grandsons, Scott (Alicia), Dalton, Hunter, Austin, Cooper and Carson; two granddaughters, Maddison "Baby Girl" and Ellie "Baby Doll"; a great-granddaughter, Raelynn, and a stepgreat-grandson, Kamedyn; a brother, Dennis (Joanie) Myers of Jonesboro; three sisters, Shirley (Mike) Smith of Jonesboro, and Phyllis (Terry) Umfeet and Marsha Seabaugh, both of Advance, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Gordon Dallas and Rayburn Dallas of Granite City, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Darlene Scronce of Cobden, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and special fishing buddies, Willie (Janet) Orsburn, Jim (Annabelle) Turner, Frank (Amber) Martin and his son, Scott (JoEllen) Myers and grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Floetta Myers, and a sister, Carol Yvonne Rogers.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral Wednesday at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois.
The funeral service for Sidney Lee Myers will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Carter officiating.
Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
