Norman Edward "Shorty" Raines, 77, of Scott City passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Scott City (Illmo) to Frank and Pauline Leible Raines. He and Betty Louise Burger were married July 11, 1953, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.

Shorty worked for over 50 years in the meat processing industry. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, Mo., Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 at Scott City and American Legion Post 369 at Benton, Mo. He pitched horseshoes for many years and was an avid euchre player.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter Diana (Ronnie) Enderle of Scott City; six sons, Mark (Teresa) Raines of Scott City, Kevin (Sharon) Raines of Whitewater, Scott (Kathy) Raines of Jackson, Jeff (Lisa) Raines of Bluford, Ill., Tim (Vicki) Raines of Cape Girardeau and Robert (Jacqueline) Raines of Scott City; grandchildren, Jeremy (Lois) Enderle, Terry (Amber) Enderle, David (Laura) Enderle, Erin (Jeff) Wolfhope, Amanda Henderson, Zachary, Noah and Gabriel Raines, Adam Raines, Jessie and Elizabeth Raines, Dylan and Conner Raines; great-grandchildren, Jody Grimes, Robert Mathney, Courtney and Drew Enderle and Alyssa Ann Enderle; a brother, Joseph Raines of Scott City; and two sisters, Vernedia Blattel and Alene Heisserer, both of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A parish prayer and Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
