Shirley Ann Wilson, 66, of Greenwood, S.C., formerly of Jackson, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Self Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 12, 1947, in Rector, Ark., to Chester and Edna Cooksey.
Shirley graduated from Kennett, Mo., High School. She worked hard for her family and was co-owner and operator of Jackson Skate Center from 1983 until 2006 when she relocated to Greenwood where she was employed by Main Street United Methodist Church.
She strived most of her life to be a Christian and for several years while in Jackson attended First Assembly of God Church, and always held a special place in her heart for the church and its attendees. She loved animals, going to the beach to collect sea shells and gardening.
Her loving survivors include a son, Brian (Kerri) Wilson of Jackson; a daughter, Kristie (Leland) Lumley of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Lexi and Alex Wilson; three sisters, Janetta Elkins of Pocahontas, Ark., Dottie Hampton of Peoria, Ill., and Lois Newman of Paragould, Ark.; and a brother, James Cooksey of Batesville, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and three brothers.
A private memorial service was Feb. 17 in Greenwood.
Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
