SIKESTON, Mo. -- Shirley Shirkey Slayton, 63, of Sikeston died Monday, June 2, 2003, at her home.
She was born May 27, 1940, in Sikeston, daughter of Carl E. "Dick" and Catherine Sneed Tubbs. She first married Harvey Shirkey. She later married Bob Slayton, who preceded her in death.
Slayton had been a nurse for Dr. Urban, was traffic manager 17 years at KMPL Radio, and had been a medical technician with Labonne Maison.
She was a lifelong resident of Sikeston and a member of Calvary Temple.
Survivors include a son, Barry Shirkey of Sikeston; a daughter, Susan Cato of Arlington, Tenn.; a sister, Brenda Penrose of Delta; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Robert Goins and John Snell officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
