BENTON, Mo. -- Shirley A. Roth, 81, of Benton passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Cape Girardeau to Martin and Ruby Huettig Meyer. She and Shirley L. Roth were married Nov. 23, 1957. He preceded her in death July 29, 2010...

BENTON, Mo. -- Shirley A. Roth, 81, of Benton passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Cape Girardeau to Martin and Ruby Huettig Meyer. She and Shirley L. Roth were married Nov. 23, 1957. He preceded her in death July 29, 2010.

Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Cape Girardeau Junior High School. She loved Cardinals baseball, playing bingo, doing embroidery work and listening to George Jones.

Loving survivors include her daughters, Karen (Michael) Scherer, Becky Roth and Judy (Randy) Scherer, all of Benton; brother, Richard (Lynnore) Meyer of Cape Girardeau; aunt, Dorothy Bertrand of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Austin and McKenzie Roth, Amanda Bramlett and Travis (Lana) Scherer; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Paisleigh, Caleb, Mason, Madison, Bentley, Johnathon and Chloe; nieces and nephews; and special friends at the Chateau, Sarah Jones, Beryl Taylor, Archie Aydt and Beth Pace.

The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at the Chateau Girardeau for the excellent care Shirley received.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a great-granddaughter, Kennly.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at noon Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will follow at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers. memorials may be given to Southeast Hospice or the Safe House for Women.
