Shirley Jean Pridy, 94, of Cape Girardeau went to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Fountainbleau Lodge, surrounded by her closest family members.

She was born March 14, 1924, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to William "Bill" and Rose Vacille Yocom Gower. She and Tom Anderson Pridy were married April 14, 1946.

A graduate of Poplar Bluff High School, Shirley continued her education, earning a degree at Baptist Memorial School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.

She enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse, specializing in the areas of surgery, intensive care and public health. Shirley was known for her love of reading and quick wit.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (Jay) Townsend of Jackson and Rose Ann Pridy of Spokane, Washington; her son, Tom W. Pridy of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren, Katie (Brian) Haas of Seattle, Charlie Townsend and Corey Townsend, both of Cape Girardeau, Bill (Mary) Pridy and Chris (Mallory) Pridy, both of Aurora, and David Barks; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at noon Monday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
