Shirley Elizabeth Scholz Gregory, 84, of Crump was called home early Sunday morning, Nov. 19, 2023. She entered heaven peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Chaffee (Missouri) Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 14, 1939, to Marvin Eugene and Dorothy Eakins Scholz, who preceded her in death. She and Donald Gregory were married Oct. 15, 1953. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 2022.
Shirley worked alongside her husband, Donald, running their company, Gregory's News Agency, and was a top-selling real estate agent for many years. She had a green thumb and loved having plants all around her. She also enjoyed cooking. Everybody always looked forward to her homemade rolls and chicken and dumplings.
She was of the Baptist faith. She and her husband were charter members of Connection Point Church, formally First General Baptist Church of Jackson. She was currently a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump.
Loving survivors include four daughters, Dianna (John) Stapleton of Crump, Duzy (Wayne) Wiedefeld of Burfordville, Tammy (Rohan) Francis of Cape Girardeau and Karen (Ron) Obermann of Jackson; an honorary daughter, Debbie Little; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one expected in May; sister, Cathy Campbell; and sisters-in-law, Ida (Jerry) Givens and Glenda Gregory.
Beside her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her sister, Wanda Phelps; and brothers-in-law, David Gregory, Dennis Gregory, Richard Campbell and Bill Phelps.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday, Nov. 24, at Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the church, with the Revs. Scott Cook and Joseph Allen officiating and assisted by John Stapleton. Burial will follow at Proffer Cemetery.
