Shirley Ann Batterton, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Jan. 3, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Kelly and Louise Mary Miget Willard.
She received a master's degree in psychology from Lincoln Land College in Springfield, Ill. She was a mental health coordinator for the state of Missouri, retiring in 2000. She later worked as a counselor at the Gibson Recovery Center. She was instrumental in opening the Community Counseling Center.
She is survived by her mother of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Troy Batterton of Lakeland, Fla., Charles Batterton of St. Louis, Mo., and Evan Batterton of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Shari Williams and Sarah Batterton, both of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Cathedral with the Rev. Gefford Lamprea officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
