MARBLE HILL, MO -- Sherry Lynn McCormick, 56, of Marble Hill, died Nov. 24, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born on Dec. 21, 1963, in Cape Girardeau. MARBLE HILL, MO -- Sherry Lynn McCormick, 56, of Marble Hill, died Nov. 24, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born on Dec. 21, 1963, in Cape Girardeau. She is the daughter of Clint Delain and Carolyn Rose Holzum VanMatre.

She was a graduate of Woodland High School and Metro Business College, office/secretarial procedures. On Sept 4, 1982, she married Mark C. McCormick. She committed herself to her family as a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Marble Hill Optimist Club, organizing the many sports teams and helping with horse shows. For many summers she managed the Marble City city pool and taught swim lessons. Following her children leaving home, she worked as a legal secretary and for Blue Cross Blue Shield.

She was blessed to travel to many places with her husband. Among these travels were Ireland, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska and much of the U.S.A. Her favorite trips were with all her family and many included water sports. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports activities.

She was a member of the Marble Hill Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Chad (Amanda) McCormick and Kent (Alisha) McCormick; a daughter, Chelsea (Brandon) Baker; her mother, Carolyn Counts; 10 grandchildren, Paige, Brooke, Wyatt, Kamren, Hattie, Kynlee, Landon, Brea, Essie and Dane. She was preceded in death by her father, Clint VanMatre; her stepfather, Von Counts; and her grandparents: Lilly and Noah VanMatre and Ed and Josie Holzum.

Visitation and funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Zych officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery at Leopold, Missouri. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Marble Hill Methodist Church.

Due to COVID 19 pandemic, visitors will be required to wear masks and social distance. Viewing of the funeral service will be live streamed on the Marble Hill United Methodist Church Facebook feed.
