Sherman R. Watson, 56, of Mansfield, Texas, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at North East Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born June 5, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Dr. Sherman B. and Lucille Davison Watson. He and Tamara "Tammy" Buttry of Cape Girardeau were married Dec. 24, 1997...

Sherman R. Watson, 56, of Mansfield, Texas, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at North East Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born June 5, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Dr. Sherman B. and Lucille Davison Watson. He and Tamara "Tammy" Buttry of Cape Girardeau were married Dec. 24, 1997.

Watson was a corporate pilot with E.W. Blanch Co. of Dallas, Texas, and was a pilot instructor with Simuflite of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

He attended the University of Iowa and Central College in Pella. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a warrant officer and Chinook helicopter pilot.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Sherman R. Watson of Iowa, Casey Watson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sherman B. Watson of Mansfield; his mother of Severna Park, Md.; and a sister, Kathy Wells of Severna Park.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert "Bob" Smithey officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
