SIKESTON, Mo. -- Elvis Sherman Ward, 60, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born May 27, 1940, in Sikeston, son of Martin J. "Pete" and Vernia L. Westmoland Ward. He and Marslean Nave were married Oct. 5, 2000, in Benton, Mo...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Elvis Sherman Ward, 60, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born May 27, 1940, in Sikeston, son of Martin J. "Pete" and Vernia L. Westmoland Ward. He and Marslean Nave were married Oct. 5, 2000, in Benton, Mo.

Ward was an LP truck driver for Home Oil Co. for 30 years. He served in the Missouri National Guard and was a member of the Sikeston Eagles Aeries 3319.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Clay Barker of Bloomfield, Mo.; four daughters, Donna Gilkey of Lawrence, Kan., Sharon King of Rockford, Ill., Martha Koch of Chaffee, Mo., and Shelia Barker of Sikeston; six brothers, Roger Ward, Lonnie Ward, Donnie Ward and Roy Ward, all of Sikeston, James Ward of Rockford and Charles Ward of Oran, Mo.; two sisters, Ola Pruett of Coos Bay, Ore., and Alice Ward of Sikeston; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from noon until 2 Friday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The Rev. Jim Calvin will officiate, with burial Memorial Park in Sikeston.
