MILLERSVILLE, Mo. -- Funeral for Sherman Anderson Smith of Grand Blanc, Mich., was held Oct. 3 at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc. Burial was in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. MILLERSVILLE, Mo. -- Funeral for Sherman Anderson Smith of Grand Blanc, Mich., was held Oct. 3 at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc. Burial was in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.

Smith, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1918, at Millersville, son of Samuel R. and Rilli I. Hartle Smith. He and Euga Elsie Wallis were married May 24, 1935, at Benton, Mo.

Smith was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and American Legion Grand Blanc Post 413. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Samuel Smith of Grand Blanc; a friend, Margarite Grosteffon of Grand Blanc; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a great-granddaughter, a brother, and two sisters.
