SIKESTON -- Sherman Butler, 90, of Sikeston died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. He was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Greenville, Miss., son of Nathaniel and Lucy Ann Whitney Butler Sr. He and Eddie Mae Gardner were married on Aug. 7, 1935. She died Aug. 31, 1995...

SIKESTON -- Sherman Butler, 90, of Sikeston died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

He was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Greenville, Miss., son of Nathaniel and Lucy Ann Whitney Butler Sr.

He and Eddie Mae Gardner were married on Aug. 7, 1935. She died Aug. 31, 1995.

He was a bus driver and a member of the West End Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board.

He is survived by a son, Lonnie Bernard Butler of San Bernardino, Calif.; two brothers, Monroe Butler of Detroit, Mich., and Nathaniel Butler of Pontiac, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral hour at noon at West End Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Nathaniel Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
