Shekelia Johnson, 15, 229 S. Middle, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital, from injuries received in a shooting a short time earlier.
She was born Nov. 2, 1977, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Katie Pearl Johnson and Joe T. Ayers Sr.
Johnson would have been a sophomore at Central High School this fall. She was a member of Central Junior High School track team, and member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents of Cape Girardeau; 11 brothers, Scott, Lonnie, Mark, Gene, Calvin, Kensey and Tarrvacus Johnson, all of Cape Girardeau, Scotty Ayers of St. Louis, Joe Ayers Jr. of Arlington, Texas, Darius and Paul Ayers of Cape Girardeau; eight sisters, Angela, Wendy and Tiesha Johnson, Tina Wright, Demetra Ayers, Stace Hunt and Felica Ayers, all of Cape Girardeau, Angela Ayers of Columbia; grandmothers, Odell Ayers of Cape Girardeau, and Mary DeBerry of Michigan City, Ind.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Johnny Thomas will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
