HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- Sharon Kay Thompson Gustafson, 71, of Harton Place passed away of natural causes at 6:32 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at her home.
Sharon was born in Charleston, Missouri, Oct. 27, 1946, to the late Leonard E. and Dorothy Lou Byrd Thompson.
Sharon was a homemaker. In her earlier years, she was a telephone operator in Cairo, Illinois. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was a past president and treasurer for the La Petite Fleur Garden Club and former treasurer of the Harton Place Homeowner Association. Sharon was a wonderful seamstress. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for those she loved. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Darrell L. Gustafson of Hopkinsville; her daughter, Brooke Colburn and her husband, Doug Jr., of Hopkinsville; her sisters, Darlene Matthews of Marble Hill, Missouri, Linda Bailey of Flint, Michigan, and Shirley Moore and her husband, Roy, of Benton, Missouri; her granddaughters, Ellie, Ava and Maggie Colburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Don Dilday and Janet Carden officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West.
