Sharon Lee Brothers, 81, of Jackson died Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 8, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to Fred and Emma Werner Brothers. He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1954.

Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS aircraft carrier Intrepid and USS Currituck Sea Plane Tender.

He was employed at Del-Farm Grocery Store and Schnucks, retiring in 1997.

He and Gloria Ruth Hoehne were married July 18, 1965, at Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church, the Men's Club, ushering staff and Hanover Lutheran Church Dart Ball Team. He was also a member of the Civil War Round Table and a former member of the Cape Choraliers.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Ruth Brothers of Jackson; a daughter, Elizabeth Leigh Brothers of Columbia, Missouri; and a son, David W. Brickhaus of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Melanie Ruth Brickhaus, on Jan. 25, 2016.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Tony Kobak and Vicar Sylvan Finger officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery, with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church.
