Scott Douglas Reynolds, 54, died Monday, May 1, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, after suffering a major stroke March 20, 2017.
He was born May 4, 1962, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau to Jerry L and Lillie "Lil" Propst Reynolds.
Scott attended Alma Schrader School, where he was in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. When growing up, he played baseball in the city league and was on the swim team. Also, he taught tennis.
While attending Red Star Baptist Church, he played on the basketball team and was active in the youth program.
He graduated from Central High School, where he was on the cross country team, wrestling team and tennis team. He had a tennis scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University. While there, he was a senator in student government. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
After graduating, he went to University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he made Missouri Law Review. After graduating, he worked for Brian Cave Law Firm in St. Louis for two years and the St. Louis prosecuting attorney's office for two years. He returned to Cape Girardeau and opened his law practice.
Scott was well known for his many tennis tournament wins. When growing up, he loved his dogs and cats, was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved playing trivia with friends where he was on a trivia team.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Lt. Col. Mark (Shaina) Reynolds; nephews, Nicholas and Nathan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a special friend, Candance Knickerbacher.
He was preceded in death by grandparents; and a brother, Michael David Reynolds, in 2014.
Scott's parents would like to thank Candance, Jeff Dix and Michael McGuire for being loyal friends.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Private graveside service will be Friday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
