Scott David Cobb, 47, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 29, 1974, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Steven R. and Glenda James Cobb. He and Monica Thorne were married Oct. 2, 1994.

Scott had grown up in a military family. He spent 12 years of his childhood in Germany. He graduated from Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. Scott briefly worked at the U.S.. Postal Distribution Center in Cape Girardeau before entering the U.S. Air Force on March 26, 2002. While serving, he and Monica lived in Japan. He was honorably discharged Sept. 25, 2009, at the rank of sergeant. Scott later worked for Procter & Gamble for several years as a data entry coordinator. He enjoyed computers, gaming and reading. He also was a movie buff and a very humble person.

Loving survivors include his wife, Monica, of 27 years; his parents, Steven and Glenda Cobb of Jackson; three brothers and their families, Steven (Tonya) Cobb and children, Danny and Ricky of Garner, North Carolina, James Cobb and children, Marlaina and Alexander of Cape Girardeau, and Allen White and children, Taylor (Jeffery) Frasse and children Megan, Riley and Ian of Muncie, Indiana.

Also surviving, a sister-in-law, Sunni (Sam) Taylor and their children, Elizabeth, Alaire, Kyler and Logan of Vienna, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Colton (Slounie) Thorne of Hollister, California, and their daughter, Rhegan, and his ever-faithful comfort dog, Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cecil and June James; paternal grandparents, Harold and Jewel Cobb; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Becky and Donald Thorne; and a special uncle and friend, Roger Adams.

Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Full military honors will then be observed at noon.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Missouri Pets (formerly Humane Society of Southeast Missouri).
