COBDEN, Ill. -- Joint funeral service for Scott Alan Gibbs, Laurie A. Gibbs, and Madilyn Alexandria Homan of Marion will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Cobden. The Rev. Dan Bowers will officiate, with burial in Cobden Cemetery.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 5 p.m. today, and at the church after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Scott, 32, and Laurie, 26, died in an automobile accident Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in Williamson County. Madilyn, 2, daughter of Laurie, died Sunday, Nov. 30, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., from injuries received in the same accident.

Gibbs and Laurie A. Hartsock Homan were married Nov. 26, 1997, in Paducah, Ky.

He was born Jan. 19, 1965, in St. Louis, son of Walter L. and Linda L. Bradley Gibbs Sr.

Gibbs was a truck driver, and member of First Baptist Church in Alto Pass.

Survivors include his parents of Alto Pass; a stepdaughter, Kaitlyn Homan of Carbondale; two brothers, Ron Gibbs of Livingston, Walter Gibbs Jr. of Alto Pass; four sisters, Peggy Robinson of Livingston, Phyllis Downs of Kelly Cove, Tenn., Donelda Naylor of New Hope, Tenn., Teresa Cochran of Alto Pass; and maternal grandmother, Eileen Bradley of Granite City.

Laurie Gibbs was born May 11, 1971, in Murphysboro, daughter of Dennis D. and Kathryn Gunn Hartsock.

She was a certified nurse assistant in home health care.

Survivors include a daughter, Kaitlyn Homan of Carbondale; her mother and stepfather, Kathryn and Rod Schimpf of Carbondale; father and stepmother, Dennis and Judy Hartsock of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Darren Hartsock of Dallas, Texas; a stepbrother, Dan Schimpf of Collinsville; two stepsisters, Wendy Throgmorton of St. Charles, Mo., Stephanie Gilberti of Seneca, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Paul and Eileen Gunn of Cobden; paternal grandfather, Everett Hartsock of Dowell; maternal stepgrandparents, Harold and Mary Schimpf of Murphysboro; and paternal stepgrandparents, Keith and Irma Pilkington of White Hall.

Madilyn was born June 16, 1995, in Carbondale, daughter of Alfred Christopher and Laurie A. Hartsock Homan.

Survivors include her father of Milwaukee, Ore.; a sister, Kaitlyn Homan of Carbondale; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Kathryn and Rod Schimpf; maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Dennis and Judy Hartsock; maternal great-grandparents, Paul and Eileen Gunn; maternal great-grandfather, Everett Hartsock; maternal great-stepgrandparents, Harold and Mary Schimpf and Keith and Irma Pilkington; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Helen Homan of Murphysboro; paternal great-grandmother, Martha Dillow of Murphysboro; paternal stepgrandparents, Walter and Linda Gibbs Sr.; and paternal great-stepgrandmother, Eileen Bradley.
