Sarah J. Schulte, 90, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 8, 1927, in Cape Girardeau County to Martin W. and Amelia Altenthal Westerhold. She and Leo Schulte were married May 11, 1946, at the rectory of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. They had been married 66 years when Leo passed away Nov. 5, 2013...

Sarah J. Schulte, 90, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 8, 1927, in Cape Girardeau County to Martin W. and Amelia Altenthal Westerhold. She and Leo Schulte were married May 11, 1946, at the rectory of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. They had been married 66 years when Leo passed away Nov. 5, 2013.

Sarah worked many years in the medical field for the late Dr. Garland Reynolds, retiring as a secretary for the businesses of the George Bockhorst family.

She was faithful to Christ through her church membership at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was supportive in many of the church�s ministries and was past president of St. Ann�s Sodality, K.C. Auxiliary 6405, and I.C. Home and School Association.

Sarah was active in Cape Girardeau County 4-H and assisted in many leadership projects. She had a special flair for baking and canning, and was awarded many ribbons for entries at the SEMO District Fair.

She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Her other hobbies included crocheting, sewing, birdwatching and fishing. She particularly enjoyed trout fishing at Montauk State Park.

Loving survivors include five children, Mary (Steve) Blackman, Kathryn (Robert) Summers, Tom (Pam) Schulte, Linda (Ron) Martin and Susie (Robert) Rafferty, all of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, Tammy, Brad, Sami, Brett, Trent, Amanda, Patrick, Suzanne, Natalie, Landon and Janna; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Chapel A of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Deacon Walter Biri will lead parish prayers at 7 p.m., immediately followed with a rosary led by St. Ann�s Sodality. Visitation will continue from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Father John Harth will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with Monsignor Edward Eftink as con-celebrant. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. Pallbearers will be Brad and Brett Blackman, Trent Summers, Patrick Rafferty, Landon Martin and Stephen Meier.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Church or School Building Fund.
