Sarah Lou Richardson, 33, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at her home.
She was born Feb. 4, 1979, in Cape Girardeau, to David Keith and Joy Bowen Holshouser. She and Luke Bertrand Richardson were happily married March 24, 2012, in Cape Girardeau.
Sarah graduated from Jackson Senior High School in 1997. The following year, she moved to Phoenix and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Phoenix College. She worked with the consulting firm Watson Wyatt World Wide in Phoenix. In 2007, she moved back to Cape Girardeau and worked as a self-employed artist. Sarah was currently taking nutrition courses at Southeast Missouri State University with plans of earning a dietary degree.
Sarah was a very loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Cape Girardeau, where with compassion she served her community with meals and various activities, especially baking desserts for others as a favorite approach in ministry. She had a heart for those in poverty and aimed to make a difference by sharing the love of Christ. Sarah was also an organ donor and help more than 100 people by giving.
God blessed Sarah with an artistic touch that she openly shared with everyone. Whether it be by means of homemade cards, jewelry, candles or fulfilling basic needs, Sarah spent time thinking about others in a very personable way. She also displayed her unique artistry through her colorful paintings. Sarah had a classy sense of style and could dress up anything with her beautiful smile. Sarah was very energetic and strove to remain positive regardless of circumstances. Her laughter and sense of humor was a medicine to the souls of those she loved. She was a source of great advice and encouragement to those around her. She enjoyed exercising and expanding her knowledge of health and fitness; especially by being outdoors and gardening. She will be very much missed and will always remain in our hearts.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Luke B. Richardson; mother and stepfather, Joy and Greg Hill of Jackson; two brothers, Josiah D. Holshouser of Olivette, Mo., and Collin M. Hill of Jackson; five sisters, Rebekah J. (Brandon) DuBois and Marissa S. Hill, both of Cape Girardeau, Elisabeth K. (Micah) McDowell and Candace S. Hill, both of Jackson, and Amanda D. Holshouser of Columbia, Mo.; two nephews, Colten D. and River J. DuBois; and her dog, Sadie Lady.
She was proceeded in death by her father, David Keith Holshouser of Perryville, Mo.; and a brother, Joshua Keith Holshouser of Scott City.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Robert Towner officiating.
