SIKESTON -- Sarah Burns Wright, 73, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, May 9, 1993, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Sept. 19, 1919, at Sikeston, daughter of Roy M. and Hallie J. Wyatt Johnson. She married Ray Burns Dec. 12, 1936. He died April 6, 1974...

SIKESTON -- Sarah Burns Wright, 73, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, May 9, 1993, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Sept. 19, 1919, at Sikeston, daughter of Roy M. and Hallie J. Wyatt Johnson.

She married Ray Burns Dec. 12, 1936. He died April 6, 1974.

She then married Lawrence Wright Sept. 16, 1978.

She was a certified nursing assistant at Christ Community Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill., for 16 years. She was also a housewife.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morehouse, Mo.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ben Burns of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Judy McConnell of Sikeston, Charlotte Smith of Jackson, Miss.; two step-sons, Darrell Wright of Millstadt, Ill., Larry Wright of Raliegh, N.C.; four brothers, Buss Johnson, Charles Johnson and Bill Johnson, all of Sikeston, Don Johnson of Morley; five sisters, Joan Lambert and Helen Johnson, both of Sikeston, Betty Taylor of Murphysboro, Ill., Bonnie Stinski of Fort Bragg, Calif., Gail Aulbert of Topeka, Kan.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with the Rev. Jim Guffie officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
