CAIRO, Ill. -- Sara Guetterman, 84, of Cairo died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born May 31, 1921, at Cairo, daughter of Alex and Mary Farah Johnson. She married Jack Guetterman in 1945.
As a young woman, Guetterman was employed at McKesson and Robbins. By 1946, she and her husband owned their first business, Jack Guetterman Grocery. After 22 years there, they purchased the Chrysler dealership in Cairo. She served as president of Guetterman Motors for 37 years.
Survivors include two sons, Jack C. Guetterman Jr. and John Guetterman; two sisters, Rose Nasser and Dorothy Johnson; three brothers, George E. Johnson and Alex Johnson Jr., all of Cairo, and Johnny Johnson of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cairo First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kelly Cox and Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating.
