Sandy "Sis" Sue Peek, 63, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, at her home.
She was born Dec. 30, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John Ambrose and JoAnna Dee Sachse Peek Jr.
Sandy was a 1977 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She attended Metro Business College in Cape Girardeau. She later received her certification as a medical technician, which she used while working for various nursing homes in Cape Girardeau.
She was a 10-year member in the Young Americans 4-H, where she also served as a 4-H leader helping with the Clover Kids Camp. Sandy served as a 4-H superintendent at the SEMO District Fair. Sandy enjoyed collecting turtles, embroidery and word-search puzzles. Her favorite pastime was being with her pets.
Loving survivors include a sister, Kandy Lue Peek; her pet collies, Teagan and Jaynee; and her three cats, Snowflake, Squirt and Frankie.
Also surviving are her cousins, Alan (Lisa) Strack, and son, Andrew; Jay (Nancy) Strack, and daughters, Nicole Strack and Ashley (Craig) Logan, and her daughter, Rowan; Jo Wayne (Bonnie) Strack and children, Belinda "Turtle" and Anthony "Bubba"; and Janis (Kenny) Koch; and Aunt Velma and Uncle John Crites.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Adolph and Evelyn Borgfield; paternal grandparents, John Ambrose and Naida Peek Sr.; Aunt Dortha and Uncle Harold Strack Aunt Gladys Tuschhoff and Uncle Walter Tuschhoff.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Sierra Abernathy and Karen Sutton, and East Cape County Volunteer Fire Department, especially Chris Miller, Randy Lueder, Adam Beegle, Russell Boswell and Hunter Ruebel.
