SanDee Casey

SanDee Casey, 57, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born June 26, 1947, in Kearney, Neb., daughter of Donald and Betty L. Drake Speck. She and John T. Casey were married June 27, 1964, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in North Platte, Neb.

Mrs. Casey had been office manager of the Southeastern Region of the Greater St. Louis Council Boy Scouts of America since November 1983.

Through Boy Scouts she received the Shawnee District Award of Merit in 1984 and Wood Badge in 1979, worked in registration at the National Jamboree four times, served as district commissioner for the Boy Scout Council, and worked on the Wood Badge staff.

Mrs. Casey also served in various capacities for the Otahki Girl Scout Council. She was leader of Troop 183 12 years; was council trainer; founding member of Council Property Committee; was instrumental in development of Cherokee Ridge; served on the Recognition of Past Groups Committee; received the Thanks Badge, the highest award an adult may receive in Girl Scouts; and was a founding member of Juliette Low Society. She attended the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, John T. Casey of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jeffery D. Casey of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pam Kiser of Bonne Terre, Mo.; her parents, Donald and Eleanor Speck of North Platte; four brothers, Michael and Dan Speck of Boulder, Colo., Frank and Nick Aloi of North Platte; three sisters, Linda Scott of Omaha, Neb., JoAnne Dupre of Jacksonville, Fla., Sheila Hughbanks of Estes Park, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Chelsea and Brenna Kiser, Lynsea Casey, Aaron Kiser, Zack, Sydney and Connor Casey.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty L. Drake Speck.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Casey will be escorted by fellow Scouters Paul Brockland, Tim O'Donnell, Bill Crowell, Jeff Doty, Bob White and Joe Russell.
