ADVANCE, Mo. -- Samuel Walter Massa, 80, of Advance passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Collinsville, Ill., son of Elmer and Alma Goodwin Massa.
Samuel had been a mechanic.
He was a member of Grace Full Gospel Church in Advance.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict.
Samuel and Laura Jane Robert were married Aug. 5, 1962, in Ringo, Ga. She preceded him in death Aug. 22, 1998.
Survivors include 10 sons, Larry Massa of Jackson, Terry Massa of Marble Hill, Mo., Randy Massa of Glenallen, Mo., Jim Massa of Newman, Ga., Sammy Massa of Advance, Randall, Ronnie, Rickey, Marvin and Steve Goodman of Georgia; six daughters, Pam Lewis of Peachtree City, Ga., Debbie Smith of Kennett, Mo., Tammy Craft of Advance, Vicky Simmers of Jackson, Kathy Kelley of Newman, Cindy Bullock of Marble Hill; a brother, the Rev. Clinton Massa of Marble Hill; a sister, Evelyn Racrdi of St. Louis; 44 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and two sons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Clinton Massa, Jim Massa and Joe Smith officiating.
Burial will be in McGee Chapel Cemetery at Marble Hill with full military rites.
