Samuel L. Collins, 84, 3501 Hopper Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Cape Girardeau, son of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Wolters Collins.

Collins was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University, and did graduate work at the University of Missouri.

He worked on the family dairy farm; then taught 14 years at Bismarck High School, and 14 years at Lincoln County R-4 High School in Winfield. He retired in 1975 and returned to again work on the family farm. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two brothers, Walter and Roy Collins, and two sisters, Opal and Irene Collins, all of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Swartz will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
