Samuel C. Grear, 66, of Millersville, formerly Jonesboro, Ilinois, died at 9:31 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 8, 1949, in Anna, Illinois, the son of Samuel J. and Connie Grabow Grear. He married Jane Hileman on Sept. 23, 2000, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Samuel was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. He was a pharmacist for many years at various pharmacies in the Cape Girardeau area. Samuel was an avid motorcyclist and loved to travel, recently riding his motorcycle 6,000 miles to Alaska. He loved his family, his children and grandchildren were very dear to his heart.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Jane Grear of Millersville; two daughters, Emily Grear (Joe Raper) of Henderson, Nevada, and Sarah Grear (Tom Chung) of LaHabra, California; one son, Eric Franklin of Bertrand, Missouri; six grandchildren, John Hendry, Jayden Hendry, Allie Grear, Kaden Chung, Kassidy Raper and Madison Raper; his mother-in-law, Nevada Hileman of Anna; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Dale) Treece of Jonesboro and Letitia (Doug) Simmons of Anna; one brother-in-law, Warner Jr. (Jane) Hileman of Cobden, Illinois; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Warner Hileman Sr.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Jim Whiting officiating. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
