SIKESTON, Mo. -- Samantha Camille "Sammy" Thomann, 83, of Sikeston died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born March 7, 1920, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of Benjamin Arthur and Lillie Mae Bodi Tanner. She and Carl Irvin Thomann were married March 15, 1940.
Thomann was supervisor of the sewing department 32 years at International Shoe Co., and then worked in the cafeteria at Sikeston Junior High School until retiring. She was a charter member of Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth Thomann of Paducah, Ky.; a daughter, Carlene Tinsley of Sikeston; three brothers, James Tanner of Sikeston, Otis Tanner of Flintstone, Ga., Preston Tanner of Kingman, Ariz.; a sister, Rose Hill of Dexter, Mo.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Revs. Gary Zook and Rick Lasley officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
