SIKESTON -- Sammy Dean Matthews, 60, of Sikeston died Monday, March 22, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1938, at Dexter, son of Sam J. and Vealer McBroom Matthews. He and Joann Dewitt were married Nov. 11, 1961, at Gray Ridge.
Matthews had been water production superintendent with city of Sikeston since 1981. He was an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Matthews of Mexico, Mo.; two brothers, Jimmy Matthews of Dexter, James Matthews of Moscow Mills; and a sister, Norma Ridings of St. Peters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Tom Geers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
