Sam Stokes
Sam Stokes, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Grenada, Miss., son of Mose and Eather Brooks Stokes.
Survivors include five sons, Dana and Pierre Willhite, Andre Green, Samuel Brown and Adell Jones of Chicago; two daughters, Vanessa Brown of Chicago, Sheronda Stokes of St. Louis; a brother, Jessie Stokes of Portageville, Mo.; three sisters, Demphsey Wilson, Betty Anderson and Mary Turner of Chicago; a friend, Viola Ruffin of Cape Girardeau; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Williams Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
