CHARLESTON -- Sam Murphy, 73, of Charleston, died Monday, May 24, 1993, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 15, 1920, at Wyatt, son of Thomas Jefferson and Lula Mae Osborn Murphy. He and Addie Mae Hodges were married Dec. 1, 1945.
Murphy retired from Combustion Engineers in Fairmont City, Ill. He had lived here 18 months, and was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruth Murphy of Collinsville, Ill., Judy Zampogna of St. Simon Island, Ga.; a brother, Gus Murphy of Taylorville, Ill.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McMikle Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tom Bridges will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
