Samuel Paul Hale, 92, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Jackson to Warren S. and Elva Blaylock Hale. He and Dorothy "Imogene" Brown were married March 28, 1948, in Advance, Missouri. Three children were born to their union, and they had been married nearly 69 years when Imogene passed away Feb. 4, 2017...

Samuel Paul Hale, 92, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Jackson to Warren S. and Elva Blaylock Hale. He and Dorothy "Imogene" Brown were married March 28, 1948, in Advance, Missouri. Three children were born to their union, and they had been married nearly 69 years when Imogene passed away Feb. 4, 2017.

Sam attended school in Jackson. He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 4, 1945, serving in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan, during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a corporal Nov. 5, 1946.

Sam worked 44 years at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1988.

Loving survivors include two children, Douglas (Carolyn) Hale and Diana (the late Joe) Culver, both of Jackson; a brother, Jerry Hale of Jackson; six grandchildren, Darren (Stephanie) Hale, Leah (Chuck) Farris, Angela Clayton, Rebecca (Aaron) Whitmer, Crystal Weaver (Christian) Voigt and Joey Culver; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many friends at Monticello House in Jackson, where Sam resided the past three years.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Debra Ann Caviness; two brothers; three sisters; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Brother Don Barnett of Lone Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Missouri, officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home immediately following the ceremony. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to Lone Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church, c/o McCombs Funeral Home, 640 W. Independence St., Jackson, MO 63755.
