Ruthe Matthews Roberts, 90, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1916, in Eva, Tenn., daughter of the late Robert and Vernona Wright Clark. She and Loyd Matthews were married on Feb. 7, 1944. He passed away March 21, 1977. She and Maple Roberts were married Sept. 12, 1981. He passed away May 19, 2001...

Ruthe Matthews Roberts, 90, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at her home.

She was born Sept. 11, 1916, in Eva, Tenn., daughter of the late Robert and Vernona Wright Clark. She and Loyd Matthews were married on Feb. 7, 1944. He passed away March 21, 1977. She and Maple Roberts were married Sept. 12, 1981. He passed away May 19, 2001.

Ruthe lived in Millersville for many years. She was a lifelong member of Millersville United Methodist Church. She worked 20 years as a deputy for the Cape County Sheriffs Department, and was a former 4-H leader.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Paula (Jim) Conder of Danville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Eric Conder of Nashville, Tenn., and Suzanne (Tom) Robinson of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Delise, Delanie and Drew Robinson; two stepsons, Wallace Matthews of Okeechobee, Fla., Jim Roberts of Heber Springs, Ark.; a sister, Marie Goodson of Stuttgart, Ark.; and a special caregiver, Ann Turnbough of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a stepson.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Craig Petzoldt officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to Millersville United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
