Ruth Jane Williams, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Oklahoma City, Okla., daughter of Lloyd W. and Iva Thomas Gibson. She and E. Victor Williams were married May 8, 1937, in Oklahoma City. He died Sept. 2, 1990.
Williams was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma at Norman. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1960 from Winchester, Ky. She gave private music lessons many years.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Quest Club, and River Hills Garden Club. She was a former member of the church choir.
Survivors include a son, E. Victor Williams II of Fenton; a daughter, Carole Williams of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Centenary Church, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
