COBDEN, Ill. -- Funeral for Ruth E. Stroehlein of Cobden will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rev. Gilbert Gee will officiate. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Stroehlein, 100, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Jonesboro Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Ill.
She was born Dec. 4, 1900, in Cobden, daughter of Edward and Arena Gregory Lence. She and Louie H. Stroehlein were married Feb. 19, 1919, at Cobden. He died Sept. 29, 1949.
Stroehlein was retired from Choate Mental Health and Development Center in Anna, Ill. She was a member of Cobden Order of Eastern Star, Cobden Women's Club and member and past president of Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
Survivors include a daughter, Alberta Harris of Alto Pass, Ill.; three sons, Raymond Stroehlein of Tucson, Ariz., Ralph Stroehlein of Cobden, John Stroehlein of Pinckneyville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and nine brothers and sisters.
