JONESBORO, Ill. -- Ruth Stokes, 74, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 1991, at her home. She was born Aug. 10, 1917, at St. Marys, daughter of Luther and Nora Dodds. She married James Stokes Aug. 29, 1952, who died in 1985. Stokes was a member of Sunshine Inn, American Red Cross, First Christian Church at Anna, and was a veteran of World War II...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Ruth Stokes, 74, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 1991, at her home.

She was born Aug. 10, 1917, at St. Marys, daughter of Luther and Nora Dodds. She married James Stokes Aug. 29, 1952, who died in 1985.

Stokes was a member of Sunshine Inn, American Red Cross, First Christian Church at Anna, and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Ethel Babcock of Carbondale; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Norris and Son Funeral Chapel here. Steve Shepherd will officiate, with burial in Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday.
