BESSVILLE, Mo. -- Ruth Brodhacker Schafer, 89, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind. She was born March 24, 1912, in Hornbeak, Tenn., daughter of Anderson and Emma Bass Keeton. She and Albert Brodhacker were married Aug. 22, 1928. He died July 22, 1966. She later married Fred Schafer, who also preceded her in death...

BESSVILLE, Mo. -- Ruth Brodhacker Schafer, 89, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind.

She was born March 24, 1912, in Hornbeak, Tenn., daughter of Anderson and Emma Bass Keeton. She and Albert Brodhacker were married Aug. 22, 1928. He died July 22, 1966. She later married Fred Schafer, who also preceded her in death.

Schafer was formerly of Bessville. She was a former factory supervisor and member of Hulman Street Assembly of God Church in Terre Haute, Ind.

Survivors include a son, Albert "Bill" Brodhacker of Mount Carmel, Ill.; two daughters, Margaret Roland and Louella "Doody" Van Arsdale of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo., from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday.

Private burial will be Friday in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
