CAIRO, Ill. -- Ruth P. Fitch, 96, of Cairo, died Friday, April 10, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 8, 1896 in Cairo, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Cooke Pettis.

She was a retired sales clerk for Pete Thomas Ford and Cairo News and Music in Cairo.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Sue Thiele of San Francisco,; one grandson, Lee Fitch, Dallas; nieces and nephews, including Charles Dille of Cairo.

Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Monday.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
