RUTH O'NEAL

CHARLESTON -- Ruth O'Neal, 88, Charleston Route 1, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 10, 1910, in Leslie, Ark., daughter of John Wesley and Dicy Watts Branum. She and Ulis O'Neal were married Oct. 8, 1932.

O'Neal resided in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Judy Barnes and Linda Layton of Charleston; a brother, Joe Branum of Belmont, Calif.; two sisters, Essie Kilpatrick of Damascus, Ark., Estelee Ward of Sikeston; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and four sisters.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Gerald Collier and Ted Wimberley officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
