Ruth Jeanette McMullen, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Jackson, daughter of Adam Henry and Betty Koehler Loos. Mrs. McMullen owned and operated Ruth's Beauty Shop in Jackson and Cape Girardeau 40 years, retiring in 1985. Ruth Jeanette McMullen, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Jackson, daughter of Adam Henry and Betty Koehler Loos.

Mrs. McMullen owned and operated Ruth's Beauty Shop in Jackson and Cape Girardeau 40 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and its Women's Council, and St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary.

She lived in Cape Girardeau more than 50 years. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and Cape Girardeau Beauty College.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki McMullen and Mark Springer and husband Bill of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Paul H. Loos of Notre Dame, Ind.; a granddaughter, Susan Ayers and husband Jason of Cape Girardeau; a great-granddaughter, Savanna Ayers; a great-grandson, Zachary Ayers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Trey Springer; three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trey Springer Memorial Scholarship at Notre Dame High School or Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
