Ruth Elizabeth Lane, 62, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at her home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Jacob and Edith Allegra Daume Wendel. She and Roger Lane were married May 21, 1978, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. He passed away July 7, 2018.
Ruth was a 1976 graduate of Jackson Senior High School. She was the choir director, pianist and organist at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Barnhart, Missouri. In 1994, she graduated from Jefferson College with her nursing degree and went to work for Jackson High School. While working as the school nurse, she was the sponsor of the Health Career's Club and the Drug Free Club. Ruth also worked as an agent for Century 21 Realty.
She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church. She also enjoyed being outdoors and playing in the Jackson Municipal Band. Ruth overcame a lot of obstacles in life, but will be remembered for always being a very determined and positive person.
Loving survivors include daughters, Amanda (Garett) Dugan of Cape Girardeau and Kristin Lane of St. Louis; grandsons, William and Emmett Dugan of Cape Girardeau; siblings, Gary (Emilie) Wendel and David (Janet) Wendel, both of Jackson, and Jane (Richard) Malone of Springfield, Missouri; and mother-in-law, Carol Lane of Arnold, Missouri.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Roger Lane; parents; and her father-in-law, Robert Lane.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will be in St. James United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tilsit.
The family suggests memorials be made to American Diabetes Association or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
