SIKESTON -- Ruth L. Nelson, 88, formerly of Wyatt and Sikeston, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Beauvias Manor on the Park in St. Louis.
She was born Nov. 23, 1909, at Wyatt, daughter of James William and Della Melissa McElmurry Hawkins.
On Nov. 23, 1927, she married Estel Sidney Nelson. He died Aug. 26, 1984.
She was a homemaker and, with her husband, owned and operated the Wyatt Store and Grain Co. from 1939 to 1972.
She moved with her husband to Sikeston in 1972, and to St. Louis in 1984.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma L. Nelson of University City, and a foster sister, Opal Deline of St. Louis.
Visitation is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Charleston.
